UNCLE DERM'S SHEEP —
He rubs this chalk-like powder on the ram's chest. When the ram mounts a sheep it rubs this chalk onto the sheep's backside. This way Derm knows which sheep to watch for lambs.

i love this.. the idea that this beautiful tint came from a totally pragmatic need. and that it operates as a sort of simple design solution. and that it is a means of marking and traking nature....
