Gatto-MeoBruno Munari, c. 1949-52
I pulled the posted image from the interweb in 2001. Turns out that a "Gatto-Meo" sold at auction in 2007. (Thanks Greg) From Dorotheum's catalog description:A rare "Gatto Meo" toy object, designed by Bruno Munari, Italy, in 1949 for Pirelli, 1950, flexible metal construction, covered by Pirelli rubber, with original Pirelli label around the neck, height 33 cm, length 13 cm. (DR)The "Gatto Meo" was only sold on a single day, at a gallery in Milan. Due to the material's perishability, this seems to be the only cat that has survived.Literature: Ricerche Design Edetrice: Il Design Italiano degli anni 50, 1985, p. 137, fig. 438.Hammer price: EUR 6250, plus premium.
