ADRIAN, Mich. —

Matthew Ryan Beach, 36, of Adrian passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. He was born Sept. 12, 1974, in Adrian, to Jack and Margaret (Rorick) Beach. In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his brother, Andrew (Erin Mulcahy) Beach of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister, Jessica (Scott) Whitehouse of Tecumseh; two nieces, Elsa and Astrid Beach; his best friend and roommate, Billie Jo Brenke. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his personal caregivers for 14 years, the Christ Centered Homes and the Renaissance Community Homes. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Julia Rorick, and Jack and Ruby Mae Beach; and an uncle, John Rorick III.

Matt was a proud graduate of the Milton C. Porter Education Center, where he was a popular friend, athlete and crowned Prom King of his class of 2001. He won no less than 25 medals at local and state Special Olympics, winning many gold medals in bowling. A founding member of MSU’s Hidden Lake Gardens Project Bloom, Matt liked to be with the sounds and smells of the outdoors and loved to swim. He was an animal lover, horseback rider and member of the Toledo Zoo. Matt loved his large family and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Matt loved bumping rhythms, good music and the applause of a crowd. He attended many performances at the Croswell Opera House. An active member of the community, Matt was a loyal friend, gentle brother, happy camper and loving son.

Funeral services for Matthew were held Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at the Adrian Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Home, with Dr. Melissa Stewart officiating, and in the afternoon at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci, Michigan.
