Portable Chair c. 1999

I picked up this pamphlet, Scenarios for East Detroit, at a Cranbrook student exhibition around 1999. It reminds me of the installation, a sitting room/space constructed from wooden lath. I think about it often. Inside the sitting room were two chairs. [1] An iron chair cast from a mold of a found wooden chair. Recycled scrap metals were melted in a community pot. [2] A portable chair (on the cover) or strap chair, "the antithesis to the heavy iron chair. This is the chair of a transgressor or drifter."
